Guest kev140766 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I know this has been discussed B4, but has any one actually bought the DIY tint and done it themselves with a good result. I am thinking of the lazer ready cut stuff. I tried 1 window with the stuff from Halfords and just ended up up with what looked like a mass of quality street wrappers in bundles on the floor and a head ache!!!! Quote
suzuki91 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 i had a go with a mate who had a good idea how to do it, and ended up getting it done professionaly. the rear screen was a headache! and it was the one he started on. so two sheets later cut my loses and took the stuff back for a refund. Masked Marauder Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 I have tinted a couple of 3 Door MK2 Astras and the back screen was a pain. I want my Bammer tinted, but I am not even going to try. Quote
Guest MATT Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 would recommend you get a pro to do it, one of my mates had ago himself, messed it up, and so he paid Quote

Guest vr6galaxy Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 :D just did but aint dark enough std :P  steve Have to agree with you on that one :D the standard tint is to light, thats why I went dark! only on the rear five windows and went for UV reflective on the front two unfortuanately I cant find a picture of the tint :P or I would post one Quote
steve67car Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 :P if factory tint was as good as my old gal then fine but it aint so of to j&k for a little darker i thinks  :P Quote
suzuki91 Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 this is what mine looks like after tinting. the rear are limo tint the front are light tint all with ultra violet protection. Quote
Guest thecodfly Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 hiya susi dont look too sad , how much did you end up paying for the tint, i too tried the diy kit and after 3 rolls ended up throwing it away, now looking to possibly have mine donethanks waine Quote
wjfe Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 If you are in 'sarf' London i'd reccommend Vampire Tints (www.vampiretints.co.uk) in Penge. I don't know if they are expensive/cheap, but they did a damm good job, and they used the film that did'nt require you to wait two days to open your windows. Anyway Sharan, All windows including the ones next to the dash - Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted September 2, 2005 Report Posted September 2, 2005 turbo screens in birmingham...all 9 windows... Quote
wonkydog Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 Hi folks, I am thinking about getting my Galaxy MK1 widows tinted. The fixed/pivot ones I can't see a problem with, but has anyone had scratch marks on the up and down window film? Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 as far as i know the better the quality of the window film the less likely they are to get scratched easily....it would probably make sense to make sure the inner window strips are in good order and that no crap has got down em before the film is applied..here'smy mk1 with tints... Quote
Guest thecodfly Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 hi wonky donkthe fixed pivot windows are probably (from my experience) the harder ones to doas they are not flat and have the little black dots on them that the film will not stick to Quote
greg_68 Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 Hi,has anyone been down the scrapyard route, I would have thought you could have picked up the rear 5 windows for less than Quote
wonkydog Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Thanks for the info, I thought the pivot ones would be the easiest to do as the black surround would hide any wobbly cut lines. I didn't give any thought to the black dots stickyness. Quote
mustie Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 This is my galaxy i didnt want the front or rear windows tinted done my meself in dark smoke Quote
mustie Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 opps was meant to say the rear screen Quote
katman Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Excuse the possibly dumb question but I have to a ask it...... does tinting the windows have any effect on the temperature inside the vehicle. eg 1. no effect whatsoever2. blocks sunlight so cooler3. black windows make it hotter Also does it make viewing an LCD monitor easier by blocking direct sunlight on it? Thanks Keith Quote
Guest MATT Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 well, i would say, slightly cooler, my old galaxy didn't have tints, and when the sun was on you it felt hotter, than it does through tints. MATT Quote
suzuki91 Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 i dont have a any temp readings from before, but all the sales gumph says it is cooler with tints. you will not get cooler than the air temp though so if its hot outside its the same in the car. hopefully it lets the air con do its job better?and i like the looks! Guest BIGLOX Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 Mustie .. looks very good. Where did you get the kit, how much etc?? Quote
